Transformation Meditation: Whatever is Honest.
If you are among the saved… God has already translated you into the kingdom of his dear and precious Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
God has also already delivered you and me…
..,.that is among the saved from the powers of darkness and destruction as well. Colossians 1:13.
Therefore we must stand firm in the freedom wherewith Christ has made us free. Galatians 5:1.
The Bible says that who the Son shall make free, shall be free indeed. John 8:36.
In the previous episode of New Day Meditation, we talked about setting our minds on whatever things are true.
Our main verse of meditation for that episode is found in the Gospel of John 8:31-32 where we find these words…
If you continue in my word then are you, my disciples, indeed.
And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
I also stated that if we are to think on things that are true we first need to know what the truth really… is.
But not only that my beloved, but we also need to recognize were truth get its origin…
We must be settled in our hearts and minds that all truth is of God…
When I think about the truth… most times it causes me to think about integrity.
Integrity to me is being 100% committed to the truth and this brings me to our transformation meditation for this week.
Our transformation meditation for this week will be based on whatsoever things are honest.
Some Bible translations for this is whatever things are honorable or whatever things are venerable.
But let’s focus on the word honest for now though…
Is Honesty the Best Policy?
Back in the days when I attended elementary school, my teachers would always remind us that “honesty is the best policy…
In our schools today a teacher is liable to get into trouble for telling a student to have good morals.
It’s no wonder though… Seeing that we live in a society that wants to believe that truth is relative and there are no absolutes where the truth lies. No pun intended…
Regardless of what people of today’s society want to think or believe… The truth will prevail and a lie can never be the truth.
Oh… the depth of the riches of both the wisdom and knowledge of God… How unsearchable are his judgments and his ways past finding out!
8 Biblical Meditations for Transformation.
When we look at the 8 Biblical Meditations that will transform our lives for the better...
it always amazes me how the Holy Spirit arranged the thought patterns for us to think or meditate on.
Let’s look at the verse found in Philippians 4:8 again.
Finally brethren whatever things are true.
Whatever things are honest.
Whatever things are just.
Whatever things are pure.
Whatever things are lovely.
Whatever things that are of a good report.
If there’s any virtue, and if there’s any praise, think on these things.
You see, only a God that has all wisdom could order up a thought pattern such as this.
Let me show you what I mean…
Take notice of this… after you learn the truth it leads to honesty, and honesty leads us to justice or doing what’s just.
Then doing what’s just leads us to a pure heart and mind…
and that which we find to be pure is all so captivating and lovely.
When things are lovely… how can there not be something good to report about it?
Doing All Things Honest.
There’s a verse of scripture found in Romans 12:17 that teaches us to…
Recompense to no man evil for evil. But that we should provide things honest to all men.
When we do that which is honest and honorable we are displaying the truth in action.
Being a friend of what’s true and doing things honest go hand in hand so to speak… They are not without one another.
That’s how God wants us as his children to be.
But that subject will be for another time though…
And for now here is another verse that reiterates the verse in Romans 12:17 that we should add to this weeks transformation meditation practices.
2 Corinthians 8:21
Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord but also in the sight of men
So, what exactly does providing all things honest to all men look like. I mean how is it really done?
Well, beloved that brings to mind another verse of the scripture found in Proverbs 22:1…
A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favor rather than silver and gold.
What’s In a Name?
There used to be a time when folks valued their name and reputation above that of worldly possessions.
And I’m sure that there are still folks that when it comes to providing things honest… they are still striving to do that which is honest…
or as some say in today’s language…
There are still some folks seeking to “do the right thing.”
Speaking for myself there is a saying that I have adopted from the movie “The Book of Daniel.”
These are the words that were spoken by the actor that portrayed Daniel…
“I will speak only the truth, and if you wish not to hear it… you must bid me to speak nothing.”
This is what providing all things honest looks like. This is being a friend of the Truth.
As I said earlier the truth and doing that which is honorable or honest cannot be separated. I mean we can’t have one without the other.
So, as we embark upon this week of Transformation Meditation… Let us think about the things that are honest, honorable and venerable.
Let us start by lifting up the Name above all names, the name of Jesus.
And let us do so by adhering to the words found in Colossians 3:17…
And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him…
Oh… and as always…
Keep up the good practice and experience the power of God working to give you a new life through meditation.
